Crisis management - Texas style

Another day of violence in Irak. And it’s one of those times where I feel again that the media is only telling half the story, twice the story, or no story at all. And the news that does reach us is more than troubling.

The president has his own way of dealing with the crisis. As the Washington Post reports he is currently at his ranch in Crawford, Texas, where he showed the place to a group of leaders of hunting groups, including Wayne LaPierre Jr, who is chief executive of the NRA. He also gave an interview to Ladies’ Home Journal.

After all, there is no crisis.

As a side note, according to a tally by CBS this is Mr. Bush’s 33rd visit to his ranch since becoming president. He has spent all or part of 233 days on his Texas ranch since taking office. Adding his 78 visits to Camp David and his five visits to Kennebunkport, Maine, Bush has spent all or part of 500 days in office at one of his three retreats, or more than 40 percent of his presidency.
